Brief Self Introduction:
    Dr. Koikari is currently the Director of the Women’s Studies Program.  She is a historical sociologist whose work examines gender, race, sexulity, and nation in colonial and postcolonial context.  Her most recent research project focuses on domesticity in postwar Okinawa as a site of Cold War militarization, and from September to December 2011, she is scheduled to pursue this research project as a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC.  Under her leadership, the Women’s Studies Program at the University of Hawai‘i has expanded its curriculum and student enrollments and continues to place emphasis on research involving gender/women in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Dr. Koikari looks forward to the partnership with Kyoto University’s Global Center of Excellent on working toward common goals.  For more information on the WS Program, see the website, http://www.womenstudies.hawaii.edu
