Brief Self Introduction:
    Thanyathip Sripana is a political scientist and a senior researcher at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University. She is also lecturer in various institutions in Thailand, and occasionally gives lecture in Vietnam and Malaysia. Receiving a scholarship from the French government, she earned her doctorate degree from Faculte de Droit et de Science Politique (Faculty of Law and Political Science), Universite d’Aix-Marseille III, France.
    Vietnamese Studies has taken up much of her time since 1988, with her experience doing research in France, Canada, Japan, and countries in the Mekong Sub-region: Laos and Cambodia. She has especially conducting in-depth research in Vietnam.
    Her academic field and interest is on Vietnamese Studies and Mekong Studies. They include Vietnamese politics, economics and culture; the Thai-Vietnamese relationship; Vietnamese foreign policy; Vietnamese migration to Thailand; Ho Chi Minh’s presence in Thailand; Vietnamese labour migration; Human security in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS); Human trafficking and Animal trafficking along the routes in the Greater Mekong Sub-region; Trade and tourism in the Greater Mekong Sub-region; Connectivity in the Greater Mekong Sub-region.
    Actually she is Visiting Research Fellow, Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Kyoto University, from March 1 to August 31, 2011. She is conducting a research and writing a book on “Ho Chi Minh in Thailand: The Struggle for Vietnamese Independence”.
    The issue on the Thai workers in Japan is another issue attracting her interests since she recently has had contact and opportunities to interview some Thais working in Japan, as well as the returnees from Japan in Chiang rai and Phayao, Thailand.
