○ Research Subject at Present and aspirations toward the GCOE

・ My specialty is Educational Sociology

・ My research subject is Children’s Gender, Education, Culture and Media

・ Aspirations about the GCOE: The GCOE for Reconstruction of the Intimate and Public Spheres in 21st century Asia in collaboration with the Kyoto University Center for Women Researchers have insisted on considering the “research, life, balance” of young researchers, especially of women researchers and also of men and women researchers rearing children. I have so far conducted research on Gender-related issues about girls and boys in secondary educational institutions. However, in relation with the GCOE, I wish to conduct a similar research but about young men and women in higher educational institutions, and furthermore, about men and women researchers who are responsible for this education. I am thinking to inquire what gender equality in higher education institutions is, including “research, life, balance”. Because of this I consider essential the mutual collaboration with the Kyoto University Center for Women Researchers.
In this Center I was in charge of the edition of “Challenges to the Program of Gender Equality of Kyoto University” (published by Akashi Shoten Publishing Company) since April, 2008. This book was a great result from the cooperation between this Center and the GCOE for Reconstruction of the Intimate and Public Spheres in 21st century Asia. In October, 2008, I became an assistant professor of the GCOE Program for Reconstruction of the Intimate and Public Spheres in 21st century Asia, Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University, and in December, member of the Job Mode Analysis Working Group Promotion Committee of the Kyoto University Center for Women Researchers. In November and December of the same year, in collaboration with this Center, I conducted a survey on the Job Mode of Kyoto University women researchers.
